X1 Xperia X1
The phone we have all been waiting for is finally going to be in the market soon! Making its foray into the latest set of smartphones to hit the market, Sony Ericsson has recently announced its brand new Xperia. The X1 is the first of this new series and promises a wide range of features. With features such as a handset with ‘arc sliding’ mechanisms and GPS inbuilt, we might just queue up to get access to this phone once it launches in the market!

Rich host of features

Operating on the Windows Mobile 6 version the Xperia X1 comes with full QWERTY that leverages the operating system to its maximum potential. The central focus of this smartphone is on mobile web as well as multimedia forms of communication. The phone comes with HSDPA 3G connectivity. This can work out great for all those of us who are always on the go! The touch screen display is fairly wide measuring around 3 inches in width (a great feature if you want to navigate through pictures or videos online.) The camera comes with a 3.2 megapixel capacity and also comes with autofocus which most of the phones these days have anyways.

As far as memory goes, the phone comes with a detachable microSD card slot that has a capacity of 400 MB (not a hugely impressive capacity but suffices for the moment). The phone also comes with Bluetooth, WiFi as well as GSM/EDGE. The central highlight of the phone seems to be its sliding arc QWERTY in combination with an optical joystick and a key that operates on 4 sides. Hence navigability is convenient and fun. If you are a music fan just as we all are, then the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 does live up to our expectations. It comes with Media player and is supported by various music tones, 3D games, PlayNow, FM Radio, Video viewing as well as streaming video clips as well as Windows Media Player Mobile facility!

Sleek design

The Xperia X1 has been designed for all of us fashion conscious souls who love to carry around slick and slim phones. Although the phone may be counted a bit on the bulkier side, it overall manages to cut in a slim fit. The phone weighs just around 145 grams and has an average size of 110 mm x 53 mm x 16.7 mm. With two chic colours to choose from – silver and black we can be sure that heads are going to turn when we carry the phone around! The arc sliding feature is an added bonus that certainly contributes to its ‘fashionable’ status.

Outlook and predictions

One of the plus points of the Xperia X1 is that it has a unique interface of its own that aims to overcome the restrictions of the Microsoft operating system interface. This being the first model in the Xperia series, we can surely expect more features to come in subsequent models. On the whole – the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a surefire winner!
